PrimusMicron Lantern review

Urban Climber Magazine
06/01/2008 - A little bit of pressurized gas and a lantern the size of an espresso cup really goes a long way. This little guy thinks big and maxes out at 70 watts of light output! We hooked the MicronLantern up at the crag and let it burn and burn and burn. Campfire burritos and a six pack (or two) later, we were ready to retire long before it was. At 4.4 oz., this is a different kind of “lightweight”.

Primus EtaPower 1.7L Pot review

Backpacker
05/01/2008 - Turbo-charge your cooking system: This new pot-suitable for groups of two to three people-has a built-in heat exchanger that boosts fuel efficiency and speeds up boil times. In controlled tests (70° air temp, 58° water temp), 1 liter of water boiled up to 1.5 minutes faster in the Primus pot than in a standard aluminum pot. It’s made of hard-anodized aluminum with a non-stick coating, and it comes with a lid and pot gripper. Before you buy: Try it on your stove in the store; the fins of the heat exchanger don't mesh perfectly with all stove types. We like the 1.7-liter size for its versatility, but the pot is available in smaller and larger versions as well. Need a stove, too? The Primus EtaPower Easy Fuel Stove ($125, pot included) earned an Editors’ Choice Award in 2007 for its super efficiency. $45; 12.6 oz.

Primus Twin Stove Receives Editors’ Choice

Camping Life
05/01/2008 - What we like about the lightweight (4 pound) and easily packable Primus Twin Stove is that it can do double-duty as a backcountry stove or a family camping cooker. The fuel is formulated for four-season and multi-altitude use, and the stove is only $60. The folding legs may look skinny, but they are stable and the stove can handle two 5-6 liter pots. We boiled a liter of water at sea level on it in about three minutes; and the 110-gram propane/isobutane/butane fuel canisters can be readily found for about $5.

Primus EtaPower EF integrated stove and pan review

Douglas Wilcox
03/13/2008 - I first became interested in camping stoves with heat exchangers after a windy week in North Uist and Boreray in the Outer Hebrides. It was so windy and it took so long to heat anything that we ran out of gas. Fortunately we found where some peats had been left to dry. There were a few scraps of dry peat left, where the stacks had been built, to keep us going....

Then the JetBoil came along but as its name suggests, it is only really suited to boiling. The Primus EtaPower EF is the most recent development of this type of stove. Primus are a well established company with excellent after sales support. I still have, in working order, a 90 year old Primus half pint paraffin stove, which I inherited from my great uncle. I recently got spare lead and leather washers from Tiso.
